A.K. Thompson is a fiction writer who lives in a cabin on a pond in Makanda, Illinois, where vultures descend each fall. She holds a Master´s Degree in Writing and Consciousness from the New College of California in San Francisco, and is finishing an MFA at Southern Illinois University, where she also teaches English. She served as Assistant Editor for the Crab Orchard Review in 2009–2010. She has been published in The Smoking Poet, and has an interview with author Donald Ray Pollock forthcoming in The Chiron Review.
